…Americans living overseas tend to ignore U.S. mid-term elections. This year, however, is different. The number of Americans living outside the U.S. who requested absentee ballots for the 2018 mid-term elections was up seven-fold, compared to the most recent mid-terms.
Of the more than 3 million American expats eligible to vote, just 6.9% of this group voted in the 2016 presidential election. With online registration now available, it’s quick and simple to vote with an absentee ballot, thus giving a stronger voice to Americans overseas.
For future reference: U.S. citizens can receive an absentee ballot by email, fax, or internet download, depending upon the state in which they are eligible to vote. See Absentee Voting Information for US Citizens Living Abroad.

I was purged off of voter registration and could not bother to vote.

We paid DHL rates to get our votes in without any regrets…were able to check online ahead of time to see they had been accepted. Have never missed voting.

The ballot arrived at my school mailbox the week before the election, but they didn’t pick up the mail until the afternoon it was due! Frustrating.

I have always voted absentee ballot. Voting is the most powerful tool we have to effect change. If you don’t vote you can’t complain about the way things are. Personally, I find not voting irresponsible and contrary to being an educator. It’s hypocritical to claim you are creating contributing, global citizens when if don’t vote?

In my 17 years abroad I think I’ve missed one election. OR makes it easy since the entire state is vote by mail. I just have a foreign address.
